The pair
One of them is loud. It sits up in the tree and calls, and often won't come down alone. The other is quiet. When the quiet one arrives, they both come down and eat.
Keith feeds them at dawn: hard-boiled eggs cut in half, and peanuts. He says “hey buddy” and clicks his jaw. The crow eats only the yolks.
His father kept a crow at Nettles Island that would land on the banister and caw until it got a saltine. Keith has spent years working toward that kind of trust. This camera is how the rest of us get to watch.
